Radxa ROCK 5T SBC Packs ROCK 5 ITX Mini ITX Features Onto a Compact 110x80mm PCB

Radxa has introduced the ROCK 5T, a small single-board computer (SBC) driven by the Rockchip RK3588 processor. This latest entry in Radxa's collection seeks to compress the features of the ROCK 5 ITX mini-ITX motherboard into a compact 110 x 80mm size, rendering it an adaptable option for embedded systems and industrial uses.Key Features and Specifications

Processing Power and Graphics

The ROCK 5T is equipped with an octa-core Rockchip RK3588 or RK3588J processor, consisting of four Cortex-A76 cores (operating at a maximum of 2.2 GHz for industrial and 2.4 GHz for commercial versions) and four Cortex-A55 cores (peaking at up to 1.8 GHz). It features an Arm Mali-G610MC4 GPU that supports high-resolution graphics and video processing, along with a built-in AI accelerator that can provide 6 TOPS of performance.

Users have the ability to set up the SBC with RAM choices that range from 4GB to 32GB of LPDDR5 memory. Storage options comprise two M.2 2280 slots compatible with PCIe 3.0 x2 NVMe SSDs, a microSD card slot, and an optional integrated eMMC module varying from 16GB to 128GB. An SPI flash choice is additionally accessible for bootloader assistance.

Display and Multimedia

The ROCK 5T supports multiple display configurations with its diverse set of outputs:

·         Two HDMI ports (one supporting 8Kp60, the other up to 4Kp60)

·         A USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode (4Kp60 output)

·         A 4-lane MIPI DSI interface

·         An eDP interface with touchscreen support

For video input, the board includes an HDMI input capable of 4Kp60 capture and two MIPI CSI connectors, which can be configured as four 2-lane CSI inputs.

Connectivity and Networking

The board is designed to offer robust networking capabilities, featuring:

·         Two 2.5GbE RJ45 ports (one with optional PoE support)

·         WiFi 6 & Bluetooth 5.2 (commercial version)

·         WiFi 6E & Bluetooth 5.3 (industrial version)

·         An M.2 Key-B slot for 4G/5G cellular modules with a Nano SIM card slot

USB and Expansion

For peripheral connectivity, the board provides:

·         Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports

·         Two USB 2.0 Type-A ports

·         One USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C OTG/Host port

·         Two additional USB 2.0 ports via a front USB header

·         A 40-pin Raspberry Pi-compatible GPIO header for expansion

Power and Cooling

Powering the board is made convenient with multiple options, including a 12V DC power jack, a 24-pin ATX power connector, and an additional PoE module header. A PWM fan connector ensures effective cooling for demanding workloads.

Differences from ROCK 5 ITX and ROCK 5B+ In contrast to the larger ROCK 5 ITX, the ROCK 5T eliminates the 24-pin ATX connector, front panel header, and four SATA ports, while keeping high-performance attributes in a smaller design. In contrast to the ROCK 5B+, it features an additional 2.5GbE port, a PoE module in place of a HAT, and uses a 12V DC power supply instead of USB-C.

The ROCK 5T is compatible with Debian-based Radxa OS and Android, providing versatility for various applications. The commercial version can be bought for $139.50 for the 16GB variant and $219.50 for the 32GB variant.
