Banana Pi BPI-Pico-RP2040: A Better Raspberry Pi Pico Alternative Board

The Banana Pi BPI-Pico-RP2040 is essentially a copy of the original Raspberry Pi Pico, but with an RGB LED and a 4-pin I2C connection added, as well as a Type-C connector in place of the micro USB port.

The rest of the board, sometimes known as Banana Pi Pico, is identical to the Banana Pi BPI-PicoW-S3 board, which adds WiFi and Bluetooth through the ESP32-S3 wireless microcontroller, save for the through holes and castellated holes for the I/Os.

The mounting holes near the USB Type-C connector are located differently on the Banana Pi BPI-Pico-RP2040, making it significantly longer than the Raspberry Pi Pico. More technical information on the board's programming options, including MicroPython and Arduino, may be found in the wiki.

If you want to give it a try, the Banana Pi Pico is available on Aliexpress for $5.26 plus delivery.

Banana Pi unveiled the BPI-PicoW-S3 earlier this year for something a bit different. It has a comparable size factor but is run by a Tensilica LX7 ESP32-S3 dual-core CPU clocked at 240 MHz, with 512 KB of RAM, WiFi 4, and Bluetooth 5.
