We've seen several USB RTC dongles available on market, but here we found a USB RTC dongle enhanced with some additional features which I've not seen in a while. Introducing EncroPi a Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller-based small but powerful USB Dongle that is built to perform every possible thing we've been looking for or wanted to on every USB dongle.
EncroPi is launched last week on Kickstarter by Rohit embedded hardware engineer from the EncroPi can encrypt, manage and secure USB storage devices by safeguarding data in transit and can be easily customized by your encryption algorithm, and you can program it with micro python or Circuit Python. EncroPi can be used as a Data logger or USB Secure KEY, and also it has an onboard RTC chip for a real-time clock that runs with a coin cell battery.
EncroPi Features:- Assign access permissions and encryption methods by encrypting data going out of the device.
- Enforce custom encryption
- Maintaining productivity while enforcing device security
- USB Security Key functions provide an extra layer of security that's used in Online Banking to increase limits for certain transfer types and much more.
- Data Logger to monitor and records changes in conditions over time
- Real-time clock (RTC) you can keep track of long timelines, even if you reprogram your microcontroller or disconnect it from the power source
While this sort of basic timekeeping is OK for some projects, some projects such as data-loggers, clocks, etc. will need to have consistent timekeeping that doesn't reset when the device battery dies or is reprogrammed. Thus, we include a separate RTC! The RTC chip is a specialized chip that just keeps track of time. It can count leap years and knows how many days are in a month, but it doesn't take care of Daylight Savings Time (because it changes from place to place)
EncroPi A real-time clock is basically just like a watch - it runs on a battery and keeps time for you even when there is a power outage! Using an RTC, you can keep track of long timelines, even if you reprogram your microcontroller or disconnect it from a USB or a power plug.
EncroPi is currently available on Kickstarter with the super lightning deal you can grab till 21st August 2022. The creator behind the project offers a free enclosure with every EncroPi for a limited time. For more, you can visit the official EncroPi Page
