Raspberry Pi PoE+ HAT Vs PoE HAT Specifications

 The Raspberry Pi Foundation has just released the Raspberry Pi PoE+ HAT, which is compatible with the 802.3at (aka PoE+) and 802.3af specifications and can accept up to 25.5 Watts of power, which is now available for Pre-Order on SB Components.

It will be available in mid-June for $20 plus taxes and delivery, replacing the Raspberry Pi PoE HAT launched in 2018 that was bound to the 802.3af standard with a maximum of 15.4 Watts input.

Aside from adopting the 802.3at standard with a higher current/more capacity, the new PoE+ HAT has a current sensor and uses a planar transformer rather than a wire wound transformer, with the former being more lightweight and effective.

The brushless fan on the Raspberry Pi 3/4 is powered by I2C and aids the cpu. The new PoE+ HAT can need the most recent version of the Raspberry Pi OS to function properly.

While the Raspberry Pi PoE+ HAT was formally unveiled today, it is not expected to be available until the middle of June 2021, though pre-orders should be available shortly from a Raspberry Pi Approved Reseller SB Components.
